Shelley Alingas

Shelley has been dancing ever since she first heard Whitney Houston on the radio. Her organized dance career began when she was 12 years old, performing for her middle school jazz dance team, which then carried on to her high school dance company. Being a student at the University of California Santa Cruz enabled Shelley to explore performance in a variety of theater productions, including dancing for student-directed dance shows, playing Smike in Nicholas Nickleby, and embodying Snoopy in a Charlie Brown Christmas. She also had the unique opportunity to act, sing and dance with Shakespeare Santa Cruz, a local professional theater company, in their original production of Princess & the Pea in 2007, performing in 34 shows in one month. Her last and most memorable college performance was in the rock musical HAIR, directed by Danny Scheie. Shelley recently moved to DC last winter and has dabbled in local dance performances with Global Water Dances and Dance Place. She is incredibly excited to be a part of Contradiction Dance's 2011-2012 season. See you on the dance floor!
